On the 23rd of October we celebrated the occasion of Mrs Meehan's retirement. There was a Mass of Thanksgiving in the church celebrated by Fr Clerkin. Pupils, parents and staff members both past and present, and some members of Mrs Meehan's family took part in the beautiful ceremony. The children from the senior classes played music and sang. Afterwards we returned to the school for speeches, presentations, refreshments and some more ceol and cráic! Thanks to everyone for their help in planning this event. We had a wonderful day. We wish Mrs Meehan well for many happy and healthy years ahead.

Here are some photos of the interesting activities the pupils took part in this week. There are also suggestions as to how you can support your child with Maths at home. We are running a photography competition for the pupils in the school for the best Autumn photos. Please send your entries to [email protected]!
As part of the Physical Education Curriculum, Mrs Coll's class have been attending swimming lessons in the local pool. Some of the students have been selected to compete in the upcoming gala. We wish them the best of luck!
Daniel, Donna, Patrick and I went to Sean Mac Diarmada Sports Hall for the Spraoi Scór quiz. There was lots of entertainment- dancing, music, singing and poems. Katie Rose, Katie, Sophie, Grace Kelly and Grace O' Malley sang 'The Briar and the Rose' very well. Katie Sherlock filled in for Daniel on the quiz team. We went up onto the stage. We were met by a joyful audience and blinding lights. Donna was first, then Katie and Patrick went. Finally it was my turn. I got three answers correct and one wrong. We didn't win but we had great fun that night! By Finn Sherlock, 5th class On Friday the 9th of October 5th and 6th class went to the Planetarium and the observatory. First we went to the observatory and learned about how big the planets are, what their names are, how close they are to the sun and how big the stars are. We learned that Pluto is called a dwarf planet. From there we walked to the Planetarium. We went into a big room and there was a screen on the roof! We saw all the planets and learned how astronauts train for space. We even tasted the food they eat in space! We made rockets and blasted them up into the sky. Sophie's went the farthest. When we got back to school it was home time. A big thank you to Claire Sherry for giving us the tickets! by Tiffany Connolly Mc Quillan 5th Class |
