Today a representative from Goal came to tell us about the work being done in Nepal and how our money will be used to help those affected. We were so proud of our hard work when we heard what it has made possible. Well done to 6th class for organising the event and thanks again to everyone who helped or supported in any way. Louise from Goal was so impressed we managed to raise €900! Maith sibh!

Stephen the fireman visited 2nd, 3rd and 4th class last week. Stephen gave an interesting talk on fire safety in the home and at school. The children received the official Safety Team Membership Certificate. I, Katie Rose and Ben S. went to DCU to get our second Green Flag for Energy. We got the bus and went to DCU in Dublin. We took some phtographs. Ben and Katie Rose and I got some food up stairs. I had a lasagne and a chocolate muffin for dessert. The ceremony was about to start but we went and took a quick photo with the DCU letters. There were 57 schools at the ceremony. One school did an Irish rap about energy. We took a picture with Niall O' Connor and our flag. We also made a wish on the wishing tree. We went back on the bus and went home safely.
Muireann Boonstra, 3rd Class We got the bus and went to Dublin. On the way to Dublin we had to collect more people. In Dublin we went to the Helix in DCU. We went and registered first and then we got some lunch. After lunch we had to go to door two for the ceremony but we went to get some photographs taken first! We ran back inside and another school performed a rap for us in Irish. Niall and Roisín made speeches for us. Then they started handing out the flags. We got our flag and our certificate. We went home proudly holding our second green flag! Katie Rose Mc Kenna, 4th Class Last week we had a very enjoyable visit from the Chairman of the Monaghan and Armagh bee club. He gave us an informative talk about bees, hives and the production of honey. He brought some of his equipment, but thankfully he left the bees at home! Many thanks to David for his time and thanks also to Denis Meehan for organising the visit. 20th May 2015
Today when I got up I was very excited. Our principal Miss Connolly, Katie Rose, Muireann and I were going to the Helix Theatre, DCU in Dublin to be presented with the second green schools flag. Niall O’Connor from Monaghan County Council arranged a bus to collect all children from the Monaghan area to make the trip to Dublin. It took us about two hours to get there. When we got into the Helix Theatre we first got dinner. Afterwards we went into the award ceremony where all the schools were called out by name and were presented with their Green Flag. Miss Connolly took pictures of the presentation. Finally back on the bus for the trip home. It was a long day but very enjoyable. Ben Sherlock Congratulations to Áine, Aimee and Niamh who made their First Holy Communion today. They worked very hard while preparing for the sacrament and they were excellent! Well done to the choir who sang and played beautifully. Thank you to Mrs Meehan, Mrs Mc Crudden, Mrs Mc Quillan, Mrs Mc Phillips, Fr Clerkin and Marina without whom today would not have been such a success. Thanks also to the Parents Association for providing tea and refreshments for the girls and their families. Have a great day! A Mhuire Mháthair,
'Sé seo mo ghuí Go maire Íosa Go deo’ nar gcroí. Ave Maria, mo ghrá Ave, Is tusa mo mháthair is máthair Dé. Thank you so much to everyone who helped us with our cake sale. We appreciate the effort everyone made to make baked goods and to come support us on the day. With your help we managed to raise €900 for this worthy cause! An amazing achievement! Thanks to our Parents Association who gave a very generous donation. We look forward to the visit of a representative from Goal in the coming weeks to present our cheque and to hear how our money will be used. We will keep you posted! There was great fun had in St. Dympna's, Tydavnet during Active Week 2015. We tried out activities from all strands of the PE curriculum every day! This year the senior pupils took all the other children in groups for fun games at lunch times, they even kept it going inside on wet days! Dance was a big hit this year too; from Super Mario to Uptown Funk we really got our groove on!! :) Who knows what fun next year will bring!
