The children were delighted to welcome Donal, Brian and Francis from Scotstwon GAA who came to visit us with the Mick Duffy and Owen Ward cups. We were the hosts of our second debate 'Children should have tvs in their bedrooms'. We were proposing the motion and Glaslough NS were opposing it. Glaslough won the motion by a few points. Congratulations to Daniel, Gary and Grace who represented us so well. We look forward to our next debate against Deravoy NS in January. We went to Armagh to see the pantomime Little Red Riding Hood in The Marketplace Theatre. Last Sunday we had a lovely time with the local community. The children entertained us as we had tea, coffee and treats. Congratulations to everyone who won prizes and a huge thank you to everyone who helped with this event in any way. We are delighted to have raised €3861! A wonderful achievement! Go raibh míle maith agaibh!
This year's debating team consists of Dylan, Daniel, Gary, Donna, Katie and Grace. They had their first debate against Corracrin NS. Dylan, Donna and Katie represented us. The motion was 'School uniforms are a good idea'. We were against the motion. We won! Next we will host Glaslough NS to debate the motion 'Children should have TVs in their bedrooms'. Good luck to Daniel, Gary and Grace in the next debate! Pictured with Mrs Finnegan are the winners of the Green Schools poster and slogan competition. We have lots of great ideas on how to conserve water! The sacrament of Confirmation will be held on the 8th of April at 6pm in St Joseph’s Church Knockatallon. The children will take the pledge at 10am mass in Tydavnet Church on the 24th of January. First Holy Communion will be held in Tydavnet on the 21st of May at 10am. First Penance will take place on Tuesday the 8th of March at 7pm in Urbleshanny. Well done to all of Second Class who did so well at their enrolment ceremony!
