Ms. Traynor's class had lots of fun experimenting with their bubble mixtures during Science Week. Sergeant David Mc Carney visited our school recently. He told us how to care for the national flag. He and Grace O' Malley read the Proclamation. He presented the flag to Katie Rose and the Proclamation as Gaeilge and as Bearla to Tiffany and Sophie. The children from 5th and 6th classes played music and sang songs. Through a drama piece they taught us about those involved in, and affected by the Easter Rising. We will have another special day on the 15th of March next year. We will come together as a school community to raise the flag in remembrance of the events of 1916. Pictured are this year's winners of the Monaghan Mental Health Essay Writing competition: Daniel Roddy, Charlie Mohan, Donna Sherlock, Tiffany Connolly Mc Quillan, Dara Treanor and James Brady at the presentation in the Westenra on Wednesday night.
Mrs Slowey's class had great fun during Science week. In these pictures they are learning about warm and cold air, the properties of materials and magnets. As part of Science Week 5th and 6th class prepared experiments for the other classes. Well done to Donna and Eimear who won best poster, Oisin and Cameron who won best experiment and Gary, Shay and Dylan who won best presentation. Very informative and fun experiments presented by all those involved! Maith sibh! Well done to Orla Brady and Paul Mc Carron who both came second in their respective categories in the Credit Union Art Competition. Well done to Eimear Treanor and Katie Sherlock who won prizes in the recent SuperValu art competition!
