St Dympna's N.S. is a co-educational school under the patronage of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Clogher. We serve the village of Tydavnet, Co. Monaghan and surrounding areas. We currently have an enrolment of 85 pupils.
Eco Rangers: Guardians of the Land is a primary school project through Bord na Móna which aims to get pupils around Ireland creatively connecting with nature. We are going to learn to conserve biodiversity, learn about different habitats and eco systems and recognise the importance of protecting them to eventually become Guardians of the Land!
Accelerated Reader is in full swing in St. Dympna's. The boys and girls are reading books, taking quizes and gathering points allowing them to receive certificates, treats and prizes. Anyone who gets 100% in their quiz then joins the 100% Club. Mrs. Coll's room are climbing to the top of Mount AR and in Ms. Traynor's room their reading is rocketing!
Congratulations to our Senior Boys football team who have made it through to the County Final in their division. We are so proud of you and this wonderful achievement! Best wishes to the boys who will take on Knockconan NS on the 22nd of October. Time and venue to be confirmed.
St. Dympna's N.S. are so lucky. Last year, Mrs. Coll was selected as the teacher for County Monaghan to take part in the Arts in Education Partnership funded by the Department of Education. She attended wonderful training over the summer and now the children are getting the fruits of it! Declan Gorman is an actor, author and director based in Dublin but originally from our local area. He is coming to St. Dympna's for 8 weeks to facilitate drama workshops with our senior class and to help us write our own play! We hope to perform this piece as part of our Christmas show. We are three weeks in so far and having a ball!
