There was great excitement in St. Dympna's this morning. Yesterday we left a key out in the hopes that a fairy would come to stay since we have such an environmentally friendly school. When the children checked this morning the key was gone and there was a sprinkling of fairy dust outside the door! Some of the children could even hear the fairy inside, it was magical!

Congratulations to Cassie Mc Cormack in Junior Infants who won the competition to name the Gazebo in Tydavnet Wildlife Garden. 'Woody' is pictured here when our Green Schools Committee went for a look with Mrs Finnegan. It's a beautiful addition to the village. A huge thank you to Pascal Mc Carra for building us our beautiful windmill! We have a butterfly on our drive to mark receiving our first Green Flag for litter and recycling and to remind us of their effect on the environment. The windmill is a permanent reminder of what we have learned about renewable energy in order to gain our second Green Flag. Each child painted a stone under the guidance of our talented past pupils Rachel, Saoirse Frances and Meave. Last Thursday we had a lovely treat in school. A travelling drama troupe from England performed the play 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' in our school hall. St. Joesph's NS, Knockatallon also joined us for the occasion and the children enjoyed playing together on yard at lunch time almost as much as the show itself! |
